Our amazing run came to an end at the hands of a great Reds team that proved to be a little too much for us to handle. The name of the game was pitching and the Reds pitched brilliantly. For the first 3 innings Mike M pitched like he was on a mission. Unfortunately Charlie was equally as brillint. The boys locked up the first half of the game and their was little either team could do with their bats against them. Matt pitched a great 4th inning and the score remained 0-0 after 4. In our half of the 5th inning, CJ demers got a one-out single Kyle shut us down with some great pitching of his own. The bottom of the 5th started like every other inning with another strike out by Matt. The next batter put up a great AT BAT working out a walk that he fought off 2 or 3 pitches that seemed destined to be another strike out by Matt. 2 batters later Steven hit a double just inside the RF line to bring home the 1st 2 runs of the game. That was all the Reds would need to seal the win. Our Stars of the game were.......
CJ Demers......1 for 2.....
Ron...... a walk in 2 at bats.....
Matt..... pitched 2 innings,striking out 5 batters and our Player of the game was..... MIKE MANETTA......2 for 2, a single and a double plus 3 outstanding innings pitched giving up only one hit, striking out 8 batters and making it look so easy agaist a great hitting powerhouse!!!! You guys left it all on the field and that is what makes me the proudest!!! GREAT GAME!!! GREAT PLAYOFF RUN!!! AND MOST IMPORTANTLY GREAT SEASON!!!

Just a final few words on the last 3 months we spent as a team.It went so fast.We were very lucky to have such great coaches and parents who are raising amazing kids.I met coach Ron 3 years ago. He was coaching Michael's A ball team and I kept telling Rosario that if I ever had the chance, I'd love to coach with that guy.I learned so much from him, mostly how to be patient and make it fun for the boys!Coach Andy and I have been friends for the past couple of years.He has so much knowledge of baseball(Pitching in particular)Most of our success on the mound can be directly attributed to him.He's also someone I would trust and have trusted anytime to look out for my boys. We met coach Mike a few years ago when Michael started playing football with the Hawks.Mike is another great example of a good heart with so much to offer for the kids.He really helped us get more organized as the season went along.I only met Coach Chris this year and was very impressed with his patience and willingness to help.He is another example of someone with a kids first mentality.These guys all had something very important in common.They are all my kind of guys!I enjoyed coaching with these guys and look foward to coaching again with them.The real stars of the year were the BOYS!Week after week you kept coming back and showing how big your heart and spirits are!You really had a remarkable season!That trophy you got only tells a part of the story.What's in your hearts is the real prize!I hope we all came away from this year with a better understanding of Baseball.After all that was the game we played! I hope we coaches kept it fun and taught you guys how to play baseball better than you knew before. Coach Jimmy Hickey once told me that a successful season was one in which you ended the season with as many children as you started the season with.
